On December 2, 2014 a jury convicted Maurice Nelson of Attempted Manslaughter.
Nelson was convicted of shooting a man multiple times before chasing after him on June 27, 2012. Nelson began shooting the victim in the parking lot of Bethel Metropolitan Baptist Church, and the incident continued down Enterprise Boulevard. The victim suffered two gunshot wounds.
Judge Sharon Wilson ordered Nelson to be placed in custody pending sentencing, which she set for January 13, 2015 at 9 a.m.

Assistant District Attorney Bobby Holmes prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
