On May 6, 2016 a jury unanimously convicted Patrick Seth Jones of four counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm. Jones was charged with robbing the Royal Palace Casino in Sulphur on January 19, 2015.
The defendant has been incarcerated since his arrest date of January 28, 2015. Sentencing is set for May 13, 2016. He is facing a sentence of 10-99 years on each count with an additional 5 years on each count for the firearm enhancement.
Jones' co-defendant Daniel Lavergne pled guilty to Armed Robbery November 19, 2015 and was sentenced to 12 years in the Department of Corrections without the possibility of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
Sulphur Police Detective Shaun Stewart was the lead investigator in the case. Louisiana State Police assisted in the investigation.
Chief Felony Prosecutor Tara Hawkins prosecuted the case for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office.
