Gaugh Found Guilty as Charged of DWI-4th Offense

Yesterday, January 30th, Kayla S. Gaugh, 33, Lake Charles, was found guilty as charged of Operating While Intoxicated-4th Offense.

In 2021, Gaugh was driving a vehicle at a high-rate speed and was observed swerving in her lane as well as crossing the center line. Gaugh proceeded to fail the field sobriety test and had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) level above the legal limit.

"Driving under the influence is a reckless and dangerous crime that puts innocent lives at risk. Our office takes DWI/DUI offenses very seriously and will prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law. There are no excuses for endangering the public, and we remain committed to holding those who make the decision to drive impaired accountable for their actions." said District Attorney Stephen Dwight.

Gaugh was taken into custody until her sentencing hearing on February 4, 2025 before Judge Michael Canaday.
