On January 13, 2015 Judge Sharon Wilson sentenced Maurice Nelson to three years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections. Nelson was convicted of Attempted Manslaughter on December 2, 2014. On December 2, 2014 a jury convicted Maurice Nelson of Attempted Manslaughter. Nelson was convicted of shooting a man multiple times before chasing after him on June 27, 2012. Nelson began shooting the victim in the parking lot of Bethel Metropolitan Baptist Church, and the incident continued down Enterprise Boulevard. The victim suffered two gunshot wounds.
